Looking for something to do in Hawaii? Hawaii, beautiful in nature and relaxing in the tourist experience there’s so many beautiful options to partake in. Diamond Head Mountain is a State Park in Hawaii that you should visit. Just over from the Waikiki beach or looking outside of your resort/hotel window depending on which way you are facing is, Diamond Head Mountain. This mountain is a volcanic tuff that was built up from a volcanic eruption. Today, this coned shaped mountain is a very common State Park and a rewarding experience we recommend when visiting Hawaii.
Before going on this hike there are musts that we would like to make you aware of before deciding to go here. This place is common and gets very busy, so if you drive yourself or plan to beat the crowd try to get here first thing in the morning when they open. Parking costs and is limited, and in some instances you will have to park far from the entrance and then walk in. There is a fee for pedestrian walk-ins as well. There are however buses or taxis that you can take that will drop you off. Another thing that you should know before going on this hike is that hiking shoes, snacks with electrolytes, and lots and lots of water are a must! This hike goes pretty high up, and increases in elevation, it consists of steep stairs and there is some climbing involved, so making sure you are fueled and hydrated is very important. You must also be in good physical shape to do this hike. Be sure to use the restroom before you go and stop by the Visitor center to get more info before you start your hike. The hike ultimately isn’t vary long, but it can take around 1.5 to 2 hours to finish, so just make sure you are prepared for this.
Now for the rewarding part, if you love hiking, you’ll love this hike, going through the beautiful scenery, and catching in the fresh air and breeze from the ocean is so refreshing, and the most rewarding part of all is when you get to the very top of the mountain. You will see the most breathtaking view of Waikiki, the whole tourist area, the ocean and miles and mountains of Hawaii as far as the eye can see. Be sure to have you camera ready because you are not going to want to miss out on the photo opp; however, speaking from experience, the photos will not do it justice. The views and the sights that you will experience in person cannot fully be captured in media form.
